Andy Clark was educated at the Universities of Cambridge and Birmingham, and worked as a postdoc for Cancer ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ UK before taking up a lectureship at the Kennedy Institute of Rheumatology (then based in Hammersmith). In 2012 he was appointed as Professor of Inflammation Biology at the University of Birmingham, where he is now Deputy Director of the Institute of Inflammation and Ageing.
Andy’s research focuses on mechanisms of regulation of inflammatory responses, principally in macrophages and fibroblasts. He has published extensively on the anti-inflammatory actions of glucocorticoids and the post-transcriptional regulation of pro-inflammatory gene expression. His seminar at the Babraham Institute will discuss how signalling pathways regulate inflammatory responses of macrophages via phosphorylation and dephosphorylation of the RNA -binding protein tristetraprolin (TTP).
