Johanna Grinat

Johanna

Johanna comes from Germany. She studied Biomedical Sciences at the Philipp University of Marburg and the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz, and obtained her PhD in Molecular Biology from Humboldt University of Berlin in 2020 for researching the role of the histone methyltransferase Mll1 in Wnt-driven intestinal tumorigenesis and cancer stemness at the Max Delbrueck Center for Molecular Medicine (MDC). She is interested in understanding how epigenetic factors establish and maintain stemness and cell identity, and how epigenetic regulation is altered in diseases such as cancer. As a postdoc in the Christophorou lab, she studies the role of protein citrullination in stem cell biology. Outside of the lab, Johanna loves music, enjoys playing the violin in the orchestra and following her passion for the flute.
