Wen is a PhD candidate working in Ian McGough’s lab. He is interested in ageing, homeostasis/proteostasis, and signalling.
Wen’s PhD research is focused on the mechanisms of ageing, specifically the loss of proteostasis (i.e., ability to maintain balance of protein synthesis, folding, and degradation). His project is focused on examining how ribosome dysfunction and stalling impact protein production. His work aims to explore the causes of ribosome stalling as we age and implications on proteostasis collapse and age-related diseases.
Outside of research, Wen is also interested in the translation and commercialisation of life science research for patients, cooking, and hiking.
