Dr Oliver Florey is a group leader in the Signalling research programme. He joined the Institute in 2014 after completing post-doctoral training at MSKCC in New York and achieved tenure in 2021. His lab focuses on the molecular mechanisms of non-canonical autophagy, an important but poorly understood cellular signalling pathway that shares components with canonical autophagy whereby cellular contents are degraded for reuse by the cell. By combining cellular and molecular biology, imaging and proteomics the group works to determine the regulation and function of this pathway.
